WHY IS RICE BEING EYES AND HOW TO STORAGE?

People often think: rice that is wet or left for a long time will be invaded by weevils.
But the fact is: weevils have been present in the rice since we bought it. After time, the eggs hatch into weevils and eat most of the starch in the rice, leaving only a thin shell.

For newly infected rice with rice larvae, when cooked, it will not affect the health and quality of rice. But for rice that has been eaten by termites, the quality will decrease significantly.

How to preserve?

  • Preserving rice with garlic

It sounds a bit strange, but garlic has the function of preserving rice from termites, prolonging the shelf life of rice and not reducing the quality of rice.

You just need to peel a few garlic cloves, depending on the amount of rice, adjust the amount of garlic to add. Then cover the container to avoid dust.

  • Store rice in a dedicated container

The dedicated container both saves kitchen space and can adjust the amount of rice taken out each time for the most accurate.

  • Store in the fridge

You can keep it in the refrigerator for 4-5 days at less than 15 degrees Celsius before putting it in the rice container. This is thought to kill most termites, preventing them from multiplying.

How to "rescue" the rice box with weevils?

When detecting that rice is weevil, absolutely do not bring the rice out to dry in the sun. That will make the insects hide deeper in the rice.

The rice should be screened for the weevils to fall, then leave the rice in the cool shade for the weevils to leave.

With the above sharing, hope that you will understand better and know how to best preserve rice.
